Helping Ukraine in its fight against the Russian forces of invasion equates to working for peace, Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said as he opened the first session of the second day of the G7 foreign ministers meeting in Capri. "Helping Ukraine means working for peace, because if Kyiv loses, Putin will never sit at the table of peace talks," Tajani said.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba are also taking part in the G7 meeting in Capri.
"I see no divisions within the international community on aid to Ukraine," Kuleba told SkyTg24 on the sidelines of the meeting.
"On the contrary, if you follow the announcements made in various countries since the beginning of the year, the volume and quality of new defence-assistance packages are increasing.
"What we have to work on is time frames, and this is the main purpose of my presence here.
"We must ensure that the handovers (of military aid) take place as quickly as possible.
"We cannot delay them until the day after tomorrow. They have to take place tomorrow.
"The number one priority is air defence - American Patriots and Samp/T, the Franco-Italian air defence system," he continued.
"We are focused on them for one simple reason: they are the only systems capable of intercepting Russian ballistic missiles and this is the real turning point in the war because it is impossible to do it with any other type of air defence system.
"We are facing an issue in the US Congress, but that is a separate story.
"And it seems to be proceeding towards the right outcome, fingers crossed,"
